Christine Cameron

Christine is an Independent Director of the Northcape Board appointed in June 2023.

Christine has over 30 years experience as a financial services executive and board member with extensive experience in investment management, superannuation, financial planning, and not-for-profit organisations.

Before joining Northcape, Christine was on the Board and Chair of Investment Committee for the superannuation fund, Aracon Pty Ltd. She was also on the Board and Investment Committee for Neuroscience Research Australia and is currently on the Finance Committee of Legacy Club Services. Prior to her non-executive roles, Christine was Head of Strategic Relationships at Maple-Brown Abbott for seven years from 2013 to 2020, responsible for sales, service and marketing of institutional clients.

Christine holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics from Macquarie University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia and a Certificate in ESG Investing from CFA. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

David Whittaker

David has more than 25 years capital markets experience with a focus on corporate governance, company disclosure, and ESG risk management. He is based in our Sydney office.

Before joining Northcape, David led the development of the active ownership program at New South Wales Treasury Corporation (TCorp) within the Investment Stewardship team. This included active ownership strategy, corporate engagement, proxy voting, peer collaboration, and ESG integration, to assess and manage risks across Australian and international holdings. Outside of corporate governance, David has a deep interest in risks related to climate change, just transition, human capital, labour rights, and indigenous rights.

Prior to TCorp, David was an investor relations adviser to ASX and NZX listed companies, supporting their market disclosure and investor relationships. He spent the early part of his career as an equities analyst, providing a solid grounding in business models and shareholder value.

David holds a Bachelor of Business from Curtin (WA) majoring in economics and finance, and a Master of Arts (International Studies) from UTS (NSW) majoring in Latin America. He speaks Spanish as a second language.

Maite Carvell

Maite has over 20 years’ experience in the funds management industry and is the Head of Risk & Governance at Northcape. Maite joined Northcape in January 2022 and is in our Sydney office.

Prior to Northcape, Maite held governance, risk and compliance roles with various financial services firms, including Rest, Suncorp, Nikko Asset Management, AMP Capital, Colonial First State, QBE and State Street. Maite has strong experience in investment governance, risk management, investment compliance, and regulatory compliance.

Maite holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Western Sydney.

Jason Fu

Jason has over 2 years of experience in Australian financial services and is part of the investment operations team at Northcape. Jason joined Northcape in May 2021 and is in our Sydney office.

Prior to joining Northcape, Jason spent 2 years working as an analyst at ASIC. He was a part of the graduate program where he rotated through different business areas including market infrastructure, financial services and superannuation. His primary responsibilities involve real-time market surveillance, reviewing corporate finance transactions and applying data analytics to emerging consumer trends.

Jason holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies from the University of New South Wales, graduating with a distinction average.

Wendy Hammond

Wendy has over 17 years experience in the investment industry and is responsible for all client relationships, as well as marketing and business development at Northcape. Wendy joined Northcape in 2021 and is in our Sydney office.

Before joining Northcape, Wendy was a Director of Client Development at JANA, Australia’s largest investment consulting firm. In this role she was responsible for sales and client retention, including leading strategic growth initiatives and client strategy. Prior to this Wendy held various senior investment advice and research positions and institutional product development roles with MLC and NAB.

Wendy holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology Sydney, B.Bus. and has completed a Master of Applied Finance from the Macquarie University Business School.

Savi Wijeyaratne

Savi has over 20 years experience in the Information Technology area predominantly in Financial markets. Savi Joined Northcape in February 2020 and is in our Sydney office.

At Northcape Savi has responsibility for managing outsourced IT service providers and for producing and implementing an IT strategy for Northcape. Prior to Northcape Savi was a consultant with IT related roles at MLC, Atrium Investment management and a 10 year stint at Macquarie Bank as the Account Director in charge of IT strategy and implementation for Corporate Banking, Business Banking, Corporate Finance & Leasing and Mortgage Securitisation.

Savi has a Degree in Computer Science from the University of Otago, NZ and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Julie Korowe

Julie has over 20 years of experience in both domestic and global financial markets and is part of the investment operations team at Northcape. Julie joined Northcape in October 2019 and is in our Sydney office.

Before joining Northcape Julie spent 6 years at Link Group as a senior portfolio analyst in the Investment Operations team, where she was responsible for providing investment operations support and performance and attribution reporting to domestic fund managers.

Prior to this, Julie was a securities lending trader for a large US multi-strategy hedge fund for 8 years, initially based in London and then relocating to Hong Kong to focus on Asian markets. On her return to Australia she joined the Prime Brokerage team at Citigroup acting as the primary contact for Australian hedge funds and institutional Prime Brokerage clients.

Julie holds a Bachelor of Economics degree and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Newcastle and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Patrick Elliott

Patrick is an Independent Director of the Northcape Board appointed in March 2018.

Patrick is a founding Partner of Next Capital, a leading independent Australian private equity firm specialising in providing buy-out funding for small to medium growth businesses. Prior to this, Patrick was an Executive Director of Macquarie bank having joined the private equity division in 1997. Whilst at Macquarie, Patrick led several highly successful buyout and expansion capital transactions across a broad range of sectors including Retail, Industrial and Consumer Products and Services. His role at Macquarie covered deal origination, portfolio management, fundraising and administration.

Patrick served as Chairman of the Australian Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL) in 2004. Before joining Macquarie, Patrick was a Partner with Australia’s leading insolvency and restructuring specialist, Ferrier Hodgson.

Patrick is a Director of several investee companies, including Lynch Group, iseek, Alpha and Silverchef and was formerly Non-Executive Chairman of ASX100 listed retailer and former Macquarie investee company JB HI-FI Limited.

Patrick holds a B.Comm, LLB (UNSW), MBA (Hons) (IMD) and is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW.

Collette Ryan

Collette is the Administration Manager at Northcape. Collette joined Northcape in January 2018 and is in our Sydney office.

Before joining Northcape, Collette worked for a boutique Project Management company as the Business & Finance Manager and was the Company Secretary. Collette has vast experience in office management coupled with over 30 years of bookkeeping and accounts experience.

Brett Lawrence

Brett has over 18 years experience in the funds management industry and is part of the investment operations team at Northcape. Brett joined Northcape in November 2016 and is in our Sydney office. Before joining Northcape, Brett spent over 7 years working with SafeWork NSW, as a senior investment operations analyst, within the investment division which was responsible for the investment management of the NSW Government’s compensation funds.

Prior to this, Brett held various investment analytics roles with Investment Managers both in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Brett holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology of Sydney.
